Our Story
Our journey may seem new, but the foundation has been years in the making. Founder Tamia Iman Kennedy began developing impactful programs and events through artist grants and grassroots fundraising across the Tampa Bay Area.
One of our most notable events, #BlackOnTheSea, included a powerful partnership with Cultured Books Literacy Foundation and Courageous Leap, where we hosted a free AMC theater screening for over 200 Black girls. This experience was made possible through a community-driven GoFundMe campaign that raised nearly $7,500.
Most recently, in 2024, Tamia launched Film Club through a $10,000 artist grant from Creative Pinellas, inviting high school students into a 10-week program focused on analyzing film through the lens of Black cinema, while building critical thinking and creative skills.
Today, these programs have fully transitioned under Hue Avenue, allowing us to expand our reach and deepen our impact. We look forward to continuing this work while launching new initiatives that empower creatives and uplift stories throughout the Tampa Bay community.
